OUR PASTOR
The Reverend Frederick D. Berry, Sr.
Rev. Frederick D. Berry, Sr. was selected by the church body to serve as our new senior pastor on November 21, 2021. God has blessed Pastor Berry with a vision, a love for God’s people, and a servant’s heart. We look forward to what God is going to do through us as God uses Pastor Berry to lead us to our next steps in ministry.
Prior to Pastor Berry joining us as our new senior pastor, he served as The Shepherding Ministry Director (Pastoral Care) at Mount Hebron Missionary Baptist Church “The Mount” of Garland, Texas under the leadership of the senior pastor, Rev. Leonard O. Leach. In this role, Pastor Berry gave leadership to the shepherding team which is comprised of over one hundred deacons, deaconess, ministers and their captains. This ministry is a direct arm of the senior pastor’s office which ministers to the needs of the flock of over 5,000 members through pastoral care. Prior to this role, Rev. Berry served in in the Pastoral Care and Counseling Department at The Mount focusing on Marriage and Family Counseling. Prior to these areas of ministry, he served as Pastor of Discipleship at The Mount for five years. During that time approximately 2,700 members were exposed to spiritual guidance via the ministry of Adult Discipleship.
Pastor Berry has served at multiple churches in many different capacities from Pastoral ministry to Minister of Music for over thirty years. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor of New Testament Studies for D. Edwin Johnson Biblical Institute and an adjunct instructor at Jarvis Christian College.

CLERGY
VISION
Often times we are asked what drives us to do what we do, how we do it, and why. Our answer is simple; our love for God and God’s people our reason and passion for ministering. Our passion is to see people saved, delivered and set free from things that suppress and hold them in some type of modern-day bondage drives us to provide effective and affective ministry. We understand that people are people, regardless of their background, social-economic status, race, religion, pre-conceived notions and agendas, as well as their biases and prejudices. The basic common factor is that we all have needs, we all have issues and most importantly, God has a love for all of us. Our prayer is that God will use us to be a tool to minister to God’s people in a way that will spread the love of God through the Word of God in such a way that it will (1) win lost souls to Christ; (2) empower Christian growth in every area of life according to God’s plan; and (3) to liberate those who are oppressed. Whereas, our ultimate goal is clear, these three areas of ministry do not represent the sum total of our church philosophy for each area is multifaceted and complex. However, these categories offer a broad stroke that provides the blueprint for effective ministry.
WIN LOST SOULS
In Matthew’s gospel we find the “Great Commission”. It is in this commission that we are instructed to go into all nations and make disciples. We believe that our primary purpose of ministry is to first reach and win lost souls for Christ. It is the love of Christ that drives us to reach out to all people, locally, nationally and internationally to provide for them the Word of God in an effort to win lost souls to Christ. It is through the preaching of the gospel that people are saved. However, we must not stop with the accepting Christ as our Savior; we should strive to move from conversion to maturity in our Christian journey.
August 13, 2002 - New Days Community Church (NDCC), a Non-Denominational Christian Church was born under the leadership of Rev. & Mrs. Reginald F. Garrett, Sr.
August 18, 2002 - The first services were held in the chapel of The Brooks, Sterling and Garrett Funeral Chapel. On that first Sunday forty-eight (48) members came forth and joined the budding new church.
As NDCC grew, a small building and nine (9) acres of land was purchased as a proposed building site for a new facility. The small building on this site was used for weekly meetings, including bible, study, and other fellowship functions. This site was fondly known as the North Campus. After extensive renovations to the facility fellowship functions and Sunday Worship services were held there until the congregation outgrew this location.
2004 - NDCC moved its Sunday morning Service to the Women of Grace building on South Broadway in downtown Tyler.
March of 2005 - The Smith County Commissioners Court announced its desire to sell a 73,000 sq. ft facility which had served as the Juvenile Attention Center, previously as Roberts Middle School, and The University of Texas At Tyler. The New Days Community Church was the successful bidder.
June of 2005 - NDCC moved into the facility. The small building and the nine acres were sold to a local congregation and the proceeds were invested into the newly acquired facility.
March 2020 - COVID Pandemic and crisis shook our world and closed the doors of our churches. However NDCC continued to minister to God’s people through virtual worship services and other means as possible.
July 31, 2021 - Founding pastor, Dr. Reginald F. Garrett, Sr., retired after nineteen years of faithful services to NDCC congregation. We will be forever indebted to him for his vision, years of sacrifice, hard labor and commitment to New Days Church and to the cause of Christ.
November 21, 2021 - Rev. Frederick D. Berry, Sr. was selected to serve as the new senior pastor. God has blessed Pastor Berry with a vision, a love for God’s people and a servant’s heart.
January 17, 2025 - Rev. Dr. Reginald Garrett, our founding pastor and pastor emeritus was called Home to be with the Lord. We are grateful for his leadership, love, and legacy.
EMPOWER CHRISTIAN GROWTH
Pastor Berry’s motto is Empowered to Empower. Empowerment comes from the making of disciples as Christ has called us to do according to Matthew 28:19-20. It is through discipleship that we begin to grow, develop and seek God’s best for our lives and the lives of others. It is in this process that people begin to develop or seek on a deeper level the truths of God’s Word. It is also here that we, as leaders, offer to the people of God very specific and practical approaches to living an effective Christian life on purpose. Not only is this a spiritual journey, but it is a holistic approach to ministry – ministering to the entire person in every area and arena of life. When people are empowered through the Word of God to apply faith principles and practices to everyday life, the person, as a whole is impacted; which impacts not only the person but their family, community and ultimately society.
LIBERATE THE OPPRESSED
When we see Jesus throughout scripture it is obvious that He is extremely concerned with ‘the least of these’ – those who suffer from one type of oppression or another. Oppression is caused by many different factors, from financial problems to unhealthy relationships; from the orphans to widows; from the struggles of addictions to the socially unacceptable – oppression, whether systemic, institutionalized, or personal must be addressed in the light of God’s Word. This challenges us, as Christ did, to get out of our comfort zones and address the issues in life which oppress God’s people. Thus, an effective ministry must attack the issues of oppression in a ways that will liberate those suffering under the hands of oppression; while leading them to the salvific understanding of Christ and the cross.
THE RESULTS ~ EFFECTIVE MINISTRY
Effective ministry involves us all, loving God’s people and working together for the good of each while providing the truths of God’s Word and Christian works to win lost souls, empower Christian growth and liberate the oppressed. Likewise, effective ministry honors the traditions of the Christian experience in a contemporary fashion that relates to this generation. Join us as we minister to Tyler and the surrounding areas.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
~ Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)
“
The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free,

Celebrating 20 Plus Years of Ministry - Over the decades we have gained members, we have lost members, and some have moved other places. We have never ceased to be amazed by the power of God in keeping a congregation together while faithfully worshipping Him week in and week out. There have been many changes, growth and development, as well as challenges that we have faced as a church body. But through it all God has blessed us and remained faithful to the vision and the Ministry.
We are grateful to the leadership of our founders, Rev. & Mrs. Reginald F. Garrett, Sr., Pastor Emeritus as well as Pastor & Mrs. Frederick D. Berry, Sr. We look forward to what God is currently doing and will do in the life of New Days.
